SanDisk today introduced an innovative new family of SanDisk® USB flash drives, including the world's first backup USB flash drive with simple backup software activation at the touch of a button.

The new Ultra Backup drives has up to 64GB capacity. 

Online Employment Systems (OES) today announced its new product, Compliance in a Flash. This policy management software offers the features of the company’s Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, Compliance Mark, for companies that do not require SaaS flexibility.

Kingston Technology has stopped selling NAND flash disk drives that support U3, the platform advocated by SanDisk, due to the observed cost pressure from royalty payments, according to sources at the company.

Sources at controller IC design houses had mentioned that SanDisk charges companies a 5% royalty fee for adopting the U3 platform in accordance to the volume shipped.

Verbatim Corp. has announced enhancements to its Store ‘n’ Go product line of USB (universal serial bus) drives. The company has launched a new 12 GB (gigabyte) hard drive, in addition to a new 8 GB flash drive, the company said last week.

Verbatim ships its Store ‘n’ Go U3 Smart Drives with eight preloaded U3 applications, the company said. The hardware and software combine to provide a solution for consumers ranging from business users and professionals to students and families who share a computer, Verbatim said. Capacities of 8 GB and an updated U3 Launchpad for Windows Vista are expected in the first quarter of this year, the company added.
